2008 LITTLE ROCK QUARRIES SUPER SERIES Policy Manual January 27,2008
FORMAT · An initial and one time only fee of $50 will be charged to each team competing in their first Super Series event. This fee is to be submitted to the tournament convener prior to the team playing their first game of the Super Series. A team failing to submit this fee will be fined $50 per round robin game that the fee goes unpaid. If the fee is not paid by the end of round robin play that team will be disqualified from the tournament. All fines will be collected by the convener for his/her inconvenience. · The entry fee into a Super Series event will be $375. SPNBC will collect $100 from the tournament convener for every team that participated in a Super Series event. All monies collected by SPNBC will be pooled and distributed according to the Prize Money Breakdown at the end of the provincial tournament. · To help cover travel costs for umpires, $300 will be deducted from the prize pool and given to each convener of the Island and Interior events if out-of-town umpires are used. This will be determined by SPNBC. · The tournament format for all Super Series events will be a 2 tier double knockout tournament format. Each team will start in an “A” double knockout tournament dropping down to a “B” double knockout tournament after 2 losses in the “A” side. Each team is guaranteed four games per event. · If there are less than 3 “A” ranked teams participating, the “A” teams will give an equalizer of 5 runs at the start of each game to any team ranked lower than them.( This rule can be changed at the discretion of the Regional Director or Men’s Director) · If there are 3 or more “A” ranked teams participating all games will be played straight up without an equalizer rule in place. .( This rule can be changed at the discretion of the Regional Director or Men’s Director) · The mercy rule (15 runs) is in effect after 5 or more complete innings (or 4 ½ innings if the home team is leading by 15 runs or more). · The Super Series uses the SPN “A” homerun rule of Match Plus 3. During the last inning of play the home team cannot go ahead of their opponent in total number of homeruns hit. This rule applies in any inning that the umpire has determined to be the last inning of play and all extra innings necessary to determine a winner if applicable. · All teams must wear uniforms that are like in color and logos. Any player not matching the majority of his teammates will not be eligible for play until he has a proper uniform. · A coin toss will be used to determine which team is home and visitors for each game.
AWARDS · Teams must participate in the SPN Men’s A/B Provincial Tournament to be eligible for the National Tournament and all Prize Money earned. · Prize Money will be distributed at the end of the Provincial Tournament as follows: 1st Place: 25% of prize pot 2nd Place: 18% of prize pot 3rd Place: 15% of prize pot 4th Place: 13% of prize pot 5th Place: 11% of prize pot 6th Place: 9% of prize pot 7th Place: 6% of prize pot 8th Place: 3% of prize pot · Any additional sponsorship monies will be divided equally between the top eight teams.
ROSTERS
· ALL TEAMS MUST SUBMIT THEIR INITIAL ROSTER TO THE SPNBC OFFICE BY APRIL 1, 2008. · If a team folds during the season the players affected will not be eligible to play with any other team for the remainder of the season. · A player is eligible to sign one SPN men’s qualifying roster during a season. When a player has signed a qualifying roster he is frozen to that team’s roster. He may not participate with any other team in a qualifying tournament or provincial tournament. In an effort to help the Interior and Island team’s exceptions to this rule may be granted with approval from the Men’s Director or Regional Director of SPNBC. · Any Masters teams entering a Super Series event will have their team roster frozen, like every other team, and the players are ineligible to participate with any other team in the Super Series. · Any Super Series team found using an illegal player will forfeit all points earned to date and will be disqualified from the tournament without reimbursement. It is the responsibility of the manager to verify the eligibility of his players. · Teams must submit an original copy of their roster before their first Super Series game. A fine of $50 per game will be assessed for any team not submitting their first roster to the tournament convener. · A photocopy of you original roster can be used to submit additions to your roster, providing there are roster spots available. Any changes to your roster may come at anytime before a scheduled game as long as the roster, with additions, is submitted to the tournament convener. If a roster is not submitted that player will be deemed illegal and the penalty for using an illegal player will be enforced. · All rosters must be legible and signed by each player. Any player not signing the roster is not eligible for play due to a lack of insurance coverage. · See Policy Manual for any additional information regarding SPN Qualifying Rosters. · A team may release up to 2 players from their roster prior to September 1st. The “Player Release” form must be filled out and sent to the SPNBC office along with a $25 processing fee per release. A player being released will not be eligible to play with any other Super Series team for the remainder of the season. The released player may appeal to the Men’s Director or Regional Director of SPNBC to see if he is eligible to play with a team in a lower classification for the remainder of the season. · Each team is allowed a maximum of 20 players on their roster for the season. If all 20 player spots are filled a team may not make any additions to their roster. If a team has roster spots available they are allowed to add players, who have not played in a qualifier with any other men’s team, prior to September 1st. · A minimum of 8 players must reside in the area where the team is registered.
POINTS · Regular Event - The team that wins the Super Series event receives 2X the number of teams entered(A minimum of 24 points is awarded to the winner of each event). Second place will receive 2 points less than the winner, third will receive 2 points less than second etc…this continues until a minimum of 4 points is received by all teams that participated. · Provincial Event - The team that wins the Provincial Super Series event receives 4X the number of teams entered. Second place will receive 4 points less than the winner, third will receive 4 points less than second etc…this continues until a minimum of 4 points is received by all teams that participated. There are no travel bonus points for this tournament. · Travel Bonus Points – Interior Team – 3 points to Lower Mainland, 6 points to the Island Island Team – 3 points to Lower Mainland, 6 points to the Interior Lower Mainland – 3 points to Interior, 3 points to the Island
