On Saturday October 6, Marie Knight from Grand Falls Windsor, Newfoundland was inducted into the Builder Category of the Slo-Pitch National Hall of Fame by Slo-Pitch National Vice President, Tricia Harrow Rodic.
Marie’s induction ceremony took place at the 24th annual Oktoberfest Tournament hosted in Mt Pearl. Marie was surrounded by friends, family and players who have travelled to Grand Falls over the past 25 years, where over that span, Marie hosted 124 tournaments over her volunteer years since the 1980’s both in womens fastpitch and coed slo-pitch. Marie created the Grand Falls Coed League in the 1980’s which is still in existence today.
A participant in the sport for 54 years, Marie retired from playing and organizing in 2015. She was an active Broomball player, and was named honorary member of the Newfoundland Broomball Association for her contributions to that sport in within the province.
Congratulations Marie on your induction into the Slo-Pitch National Hall of Fame.
